A message to Artists coping with the mental health blow that AI art has dealt
Переглядів 88 тис.Рік тому
In this video I wanted to speak to artists like me who are CURRENTLY dealing with the very real and sometimes deadly mental health impacts that this whole situation is bringing up. Take care and keep drawing. There are many concerns and opinions on AI Art and many videos being made about said subject that are much more eloquent at laying out the legal, and ethical concerns then I am. Here are a...

    I can't bring myself to pull down all my videos with AI generated visualizers, however, I am totally anti AI now. It's not genuine or thoughtful and it can't ever be that. I worked very hard on creating my songs note by note and I want to put that effort toward the whole picture now. If it were a choice, I would rather draw terrible animations for my songs than use B.S. generative videos. I have been feeling the dread you speak of and I thought I was alone there for a bit. I just don't think rational people will ever respect AI "art" as anything worthy over what real people create. That's my hopeful thought about it anyway. Thank you for this video! Take care. P.S. the rage yoga part made me laugh so hard 🤣

    AI art will never be able to capture points in time when the art is created. So, if you time stamp your work when you are painting a butterfly that has landed on a pet's nose while the pet is sleeping but acting out a dream of running. That will be your art captured in time that will never be copied again. Not even by AI. Your art will "always" be one of a kind cause we can't go back in time. We should use that as an advantage. It will take more work, but will also be in more demand. IMO. Instantly "rare". If you put yourself in your work in a creative way, AI better not copy it or make a similar work. That would be stealing. Period.

    I used to be a carriage driver but now everyone own a car, I used to be able to give 2 people a ride, now buses can carry more than 30 people! AHHHH, MY MENTAL HEALTH. Gotta wonder what the Renaissance artists thought to themselves, with 0 marketing, finding a patron in a stack of hay, the difficulties of "UNDOING" your brush stroke; a war every 2 minutes and ofcourse the black death. "A lot of artists are struggling with mental issues", no ma'am, that is a generation problem, we call it the "Not getting slapped in the face as a young'un" problem, thankfully it can still be solved today, a slap to the face per day keeps the depression away (This cure btw can be self administrated, no need for prescription) . Notice, I haven't said anything pro or against AI.

    Some artists are in the position like the artists who painted a book by hand for a year before the invention of the printing press came that created the same book within hours. They mostly lost their jobs. Or the artists that created photo realistic portrait paintings before the invention of the photo camera, and then they lost their jobs. It is a normal process in the evolotion of the processing of information and its democratization in mankinds history. Generative AI is the next step in the democratization of acccess to information - in this case the processing of information in relaton to a personal query. Every democratization results into the ones who had an exclusive access before it losing this elite status.

    As an ex AI prompter, I'm sick of people who mock real artists. How sad their lives must be if they are so happy about the lives, careers, dreams falling apart. Not a single mentally healthy person would enjoy the suffering of a person. Using AI doesn't make you an artist, it's simply product consumption with extra steps, while true art is made with effort, love and actual soul.

    • @greg_online
      @greg_online Місяць тому

      This is very, very well-said, "product consumption with extra steps" is perfect. The AI "watch the world burn because MY life is miserable" crowd is constantly talking about an end product and how consumable a product is, and that's it. There's no concept of how a great end product comes from the collaboration of a paid team of artistic minds. Art isn't an end product, it's a process that results in an end product. "Soon we can enter a prompt and it will generate a full movie for me!", all the while not realizing that a brilliant movie is made through the collaboration of a team of artistic minds with human spontaneity that, no matter what, cannot properly be replicated by a machine. Even at it's best, there is an organic way that our animal minds work - messy, imperfect - that creates incredible art with depth and meaning. Something just "looking cool" doesn't make it art, it makes it a consumable for you to ingest while you munch on snacks and twiddle your toes in your grandparents' fart-soaked recliner. When you've been watching only AI movies for years, your prompts are going to be based on other prompted movies, and so on, and eventually the quality of the movies that you're generating will be about as complex as "worker and parasite" from The Simpsons. They are focusing solely on the consumption of media, any media at all, and not how great media is created or what art actually is... just consume, consume, consume. In, in, in.

      Not using AI doesn't make you an artist either, hack. Plenty of accomplished traditional artists love and utilize generative AI. Imbecile.

    • @harrybaker5
      @harrybaker5 26 днів тому

      really? people have souls now, are you making this claim literally? AI art is just as valid as any other method its just easier to render. It wont make the theme, concept, characters, context anything like this you have to make yourself and try to get the bot to follow

  • @miscellaneous7777
    @miscellaneous7777 Місяць тому

    I wanted to try that method for a while now but what turned me away from it was the fact that the values would get messed up because of it. I had no idea you could change the mode to color on gradient maps. I’ll try that in PS

    this has been my problem with the ai revolution from the start. the Ai revolution has been used and is being developed to replace people to save on cost and boost profits, replacing people's jobs and creativity in the process. i have no problem with AI being used in medical and materials development or any field that is going to help people, but i draw the line (pun unintended) when AI steps into the creative process. i have been learning blender the past few years, and what really infuriates me is seeing people getting AI to do most of the work for them. on a positive note i encourage all to keep being creative and never let true art die out. you are all amazing people

    • @user-jm4cd5sd1x
      @user-jm4cd5sd1x 26 днів тому

      AI can be used very creatively, by actual Artists, with a capital A. Sadly, "artists" with no creativity, who illustrate schlock, such as every dope crying about AI, cannot use generative AI (or any method/medium) in a meaningful way. Cry.

  • @dsmurl7
    @dsmurl7 Місяць тому

    AI art is depressing. When I see the ear too big or an extra finger on a drawing from AI, it reminds me that no amount of human work isn't slated to be replaced by corperate trash. AI art doesn't fool the eye and instantly sparks feelings of replacement and distain for humanity.

    I am not sure why so many fear AI art.. It has no soul when you look at it although it may be detail it has no soul or meaning behind it. Art can only truly be created by the living and AI is not a living being it is just a program made up of zeros and ones. No matter how advance it becomes it will still be a soulless construct. The only thing you should be worried about or even afraid of is yourself losing the love for art and giving up on it. Never lose the love for art and it will never let your down. So strive to be original in your own way and you will surprise yourself at how amazing you truly are.

    Hi, I just bought a digital art tablet after drawing by hand for the past 13 years. I started following some of your tutorials and I love them!! They've been greatly helpful. How do you do that thing where you select a portion of your drawing? For example, I want to select an eye when I horizontally flip the picture and see that it's not perfectly in line where I want it in respect to the other eye. How do you draw that thing around it and just move the one selected area without moving anything else in your picture? I tried looking up youtube tutorial videos, but I'm struggling to find anyone teaching that.
